Text

The Text tool adds text to the canvas. You can add a free-standing text block or type text inside a shape.

KeyAction
WChoose the Text tool
  1. Choose the Text (W) tool from the toolbar.
  2. Click where you want the text to start on the canvas and begin typing.
  3. To finish, click outside or press Esc.
  4. For text inside a shape (box, table cell, code block), double-click that item.

When you add text and select it, a selection bar appears above it. For text, these controls are available:

  • Color: choose the text color.
  • Font: handwriting and other families.
  • Size: S / M / L / XL.
  • Alignment: left, center, or right.
  • Opacity: adjust the opacity with the slider.
  • Layer order: bring to front or send to back.
  • Duplicate / Delete.

The same controls appear when you add text by double-clicking inside a shape.

  • Text is a shape too; you move, rotate, and style it with the Select tool.
  • For math/formulas, see Math / LaTeX; for code, see the Code Block item.
